Uzbekistan and OTS strengthen multifaceted cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 October, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev met with Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreev.

During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further cooperation in priority areas.

The issues of preparing major events within the framework of the Council were discussed, bearing in mind the first Summit of the Organization of Turkic States and the 11th meeting of the ministers of economy and trade of the OTS, scheduled to be held in November this year in the city of Samarkand. An agreement was reached to intensify interaction in order to hold events at a high organizational and substantive level.

The prospects for further expansion of partnership in the trade, investment and financial spheres within the framework of the Organization were considered. Mutual interest was expressed in accelerating the process of signing the Agreement on the establishment of a Joint Investment Fund and its placement in Tashkent.

Concrete steps have been outlined to implement initiatives to create a "Research Center for Trade Cooperation in the Turkic Countries" and "Center for Engineering and Technology". The importance of the implementation of these initiatives for the further strengthening of trade, economic and investment ties between the OTS states was emphasized.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further practical measures for the timely implementation of the agreements reached and initiatives put forward at a high level, and also expressed their readiness to strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Organization.
