Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ulugbek Shermatov, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, held a meeting with Wafa Jabr Nasser Al-Busaidi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Oman to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the open and constructive foreign policies pursued by the leadership of both countries have facilitated the establishment of solid cooperation in a short period. Uzbekistan and Oman have also developed effective collaboration within international and regional organizations.
It was noted that the ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and the Sultanate of Oman have a long history. Their strong trade connections, shared values, and traditions provide a reliable foundation for further developing this partnership.
The Omani ambassador expressed admiration for the democratic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He highlighted that the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils were conducted openly and transparently, meeting international standards.
The ambassador also praised Uzbekistan’s wide-ranging initiatives to support women and enhance their participation in public life. He noted that the increase in the number of female deputies is a direct result of these policies.
Both sides acknowledged the successful development of cooperation in economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, stressing that both countries have ample opportunities to further strengthen their partnership. Special attention was given to expanding parliamentary cooperation and elevating it to a new level.
The meeting was conducted in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
