Uzbekistan and North Macedonia Expand Cooperation in Cruise Ship Employment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and North Macedonia are deepening their cooperation in the field of international labor migration, particularly in providing employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens aboard cruise ships.

Talks were recently held in Tashkent between the leadership of the Migration Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Zoran Kočoski, Executive Director of the Macedonian company Kouzon Corporation.

During the meeting, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at organizing official employment for Uzbek nationals on international passenger vessels.

This agreement opens new opportunities for Uzbek citizens with English language skills who are interested in working abroad, especially in the tourism and service sectors on cruise routes.

Founded 28 years ago, Kouzon Corporation operates in 18 countries and maintains a wide international network. Its cruise operations span the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Scandinavia, the Baltic region, and the Pacific Ocean. Each year, the company provides employment for 20,000 to 25,000 professionals across various roles.

According to the agreement, the initial monthly salary will start from US$1,200 for the first six months. Upon completion of the initial contract, workers will receive a two-month paid vacation, after which they may sign a new six-month contract with a potential salary increase of up to US$4,000, depending on their position and experience.

All on-board accommodation expenses will be covered by the employer. Additionally, the process for obtaining the required C1/D transit visa will be simplified, with processing times ranging from 45 to 90 days and all associated costs covered by the host company.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to begin developing a roadmap for the swift implementation of the agreements reached.
