Uzbekistan and Mongolia Expand Cooperation in Transport and Logistics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 June 2025, a meeting was held in Ulaanbaatar between Jasurbek Choriev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Sandagdorj Batbold, Deputy Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia.

The talks focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics. Representatives from the railway, aviation, and road transport sectors of both countries participated in the discussions.

Particular attention was given to the development of international road freight transportation. In this context, both sides highlighted the importance of the first pilot shipment along the “Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China – Mongolia” route, emphasizing its significance as a practical step toward establishing a new transport corridor.

The parties exchanged views on the relevance of this route, reviewed its potential and logistical advantages, and discussed existing challenges that require joint solutions, including infrastructure and procedural issues.

The meeting also addressed the prospects for cooperation in civil aviation. In particular, the possibility of launching direct flights between Tashkent and Ulaanbaatar was considered, along with topics related to increasing tourism exchanges and creating favorable conditions for passenger transportation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in the transport and logistics sector and stressed the importance of transitioning to the practical implementation of joint initiatives and project-based cooperation.
