Uzbekistan and Lithuania discuss launch of direct air services

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Mamanbiy Omarov, held a meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Lithuania, headed by the Consul General in Almaty, Gvidas Kerushauskas.

The meeting focused on the current state and prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in transportation and logistics.

The sides discussed ways to increase trade turnover between the two countries by optimizing logistics chains and expanding transportation links.

Special attention was given to ensuring smooth cargo movement, including the exchange of information on the status of transport routes and optimizing customs procedures. The discussion also included increasing the limit on additional permits for speeding up the cargo transportation process.

The sides exchanged views on potential cooperation in railway carriage repair, which could help optimize costs and improve the efficiency of transportation.

Another key topic was the possibility of establishing direct air services between Uzbekistan and Lithuania to simplify tourist and business travel.

The meeting highlighted the mutual desire of Uzbekistan and Lithuania to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in transportation and logistics. This creates new opportunities to expand economic ties between the two countries and strengthens sustainable transport corridors in the region.
