Uzbekistan and Latvia discuss ways to simplify visa procedures
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullaev held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Brože, and the Director General of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate, Agnese Kalniņa, in Riga.
During the discussions, the parties addressed the draft Migration Agreement, which aims to ease the visa regime for Uzbek citizens.
The consideration of this document, with a view to its potential signing, was the main item on the agenda.
The parties emphasized the importance of establishing a continuous dialogue on labor migration and agreed to hold regular consultations on this matter. The Latvian side highlighted that Uzbekistan is an important partner for Latvia in Central Asia.
Both sides expressed confidence that cooperation in the field of labor migration is mutually beneficial and has long-term prospects.
Additionally, the parties agreed to hold consular consultations between the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this year.
