Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Transport, Mamanbiy Omarov, met with a Latvian delegation led by Janis Meirans, Advisor to the Latvian Minister of Transport.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral freight transport between Uzbekistan and Latvia and addressing current challenges. Given Uzbekistan’s growing trade with EU countries, the route through Latvia is of particular interest. The parties explored ways to utilize Latvia’s port infrastructure to enhance cargo transport efficiency.
They also discussed the implementation of the E-permit system for electronic exchange of permit forms to streamline and speed up freight operations.
The meeting highlighted Uzbekistan’s and Latvia’s shared commitment to fostering mutually beneficial transport cooperation, opening new opportunities to optimize logistics and strengthen trade relations between the two countries.
