Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to be able to use the new multimodal transport corridor

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazakhstan’s online business outlet Kursiv published an article analyzing the plans of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to use a new multimodal transport corridor, Dunyo news agency reported.

It is noted that the Southern Transport Corridor to Russia will run from the south of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, then to Turkmenistan to the port of Turkmenbashi on the Caspian Sea, then the route will head north to Astrakhan.

As the article says, the route will greatly simplify and accelerate trade and economic ties between countries and will contribute to the development of regional integration.

With reference to the governor of Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, Kursiv writes that the North-South international transport corridor is a multimodal route from St. Petersburg to India, which passes through Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Its advantage is a reduction in the distance and cost of transportation by half.
