Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discuss prospective infrastructure projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, held talks with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Presidential Administration, Akylbek Japarov. This was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.

The meeting took place during the visit of the Government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the city of Urumqi, People’s Republic of China.

It was noted that the leaders of the two countries, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Japarov, have tasked their respective governments with specific objectives to further develop bilateral relations.

Currently, there is positive growth in all directions, and important joint projects are being implemented.

Uzbekistan has expressed interest in deepening cooperation in all areas with its brotherly Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the parties thoroughly discussed three prospective infrastructure projects included in the bilateral cooperation agenda set by the heads of state.

According to the Government of Kyrgyzstan, the discussions included the construction projects of the Kambar-Ata-1 Hydroelectric Power Station (HPS) and the HPS on the Chatkal River.

The heads of government also discussed the project for the construction of the Talas-Chatkal-Tashkent highway. It was noted that a "Roadmap" is currently being developed for this project, and its implementation will increase mutual trade and enhance the tourism potential of the two countries.

Additionally, the activation of joint work on the construction of a conveyor belt and a coal logistics center for the supply of coal from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan was discussed.

The parties agreed that taking practical measures to advance these infrastructure projects will contribute to strengthening the brotherly strategic relations between the two countries.
