Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, during her working visit to Bishkek, held a meeting with Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev.

At the beginning of the meeting, special attention was paid to the current high level of close, time-tested fraternal relations of strategic partnership between the two states. It was emphasized that the important foundation of these relations is strong political will and open, friendly relations between the Presidents of the two countries, based on mutual trust.

During the conversation, issues of further development of cooperation between parliaments were discussed. In particular, an exchange of views took place on the need to intensify the work of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. Measures were discussed to facilitate the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, using the institution of parliamentary control.

In addition, initiatives were proposed to ensure the active participation of local deputies in the activities of the Council of Heads of Border Regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to further increase the effectiveness of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand cooperation within the framework of international inter-parliamentary structures.
