Uzbekistan and KOICA to implement industrial workforce training project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide funding for the implementation of the “Industrial Workforce Training” project in Uzbekistan.

Minister of Poverty Reduction and Employment Botir Zakhidov held final negotiations with a KOICA delegation led by the director of the agency’s Uzbekistan office, Shin Myung Seop. During the discussions, both sides finalized agreements related to the launch of this initiative.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to implement the project in Uzbekistan from 2026 to 2032.

The project includes the establishment of an Industrial Workforce Training Center and the modernization of regional vocational training centers in Tashkent and Samarkand.

Graduates of these institutions will have the opportunity to work at leading industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan and undergo internships and employment at production facilities in South Korea.

Notably, KOICA had considered launching this initiative in one of three countries—Uzbekistan, Cambodia, or Vietnam—ultimately choosing Uzbekistan as the preferred location.
