Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan updated the Roadmap for the implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts, signed during the visit of President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev to Uzbekistan in December 2022.
During the second meeting of the working group on monitoring the implementation of cooperation projects and carrying out systematic work on import substitution, which took place on 2 March in Shymkent, Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries Serik Jumangarin and Jamshid Khodjaev agreed on an updated document.
The updated Roadmap involves the creation of a cluster for the deep processing of Kazakh grain up to 1 million tons and the implementation of a project for the refining of vegetable oil on the territory of the newly created ICIC "Central Asia".
In addition, the investment pool was replenished with three projects designed to revive and give impetus to the development of the textile industry in Shymkent and Turkestan region. We are talking about the launch of idle textile factories in Shymkent with a capacity of 18,000 tons of cotton fiber per year, the creation here of a textile complex with a capacity of 5,500 tons of cotton fiber per year and a joint venture to organize a textile cluster in the Turkestan region with a phased launch until 2026.
The parties also agreed to comprehensively work out the issue of opening branches of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation Engineers and Agricultural Mechanization on the basis of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University and South Kazakhstan University named after. M. Auezov in the city of Chirchik of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
