Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are working on a project to supply "green" electricity to European countries, as announced by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

This statement was made during a meeting of Central Asian heads of state with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Tokayev proposed that Berlin participate in this energy project.

An agreement for the supply of "green" electricity to Europe was signed in November 2023.

In addition to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan is also involved in the project.

The plan includes transmitting electricity via an underwater cable across the Caspian Sea.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan intends to start exporting surplus energy to European countries starting from 2030.
