Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to launch satellites

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are planning a joint launch of artificial satellites for data collection and analysis.

On 2-3 September 2024, a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies visited Astana to participate in the "Conference of Ministers on Digital Inclusion and Transformation in the Asia-Pacific Region," organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

During the event, Minister Sherzod Shermatov met with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry Jaslan Madiyev.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation, with a focus on digital skills training, the state of regional collaboration in digital inclusion and transformation, and opportunities for strengthening this collaboration.

Additionally, the issue of developing joint regional cooperation plans to accelerate digital innovations was addressed.

The potential for collaboration between the two countries in launching mutual satellite constellations for data collection and analysis was also discussed, with proposals expected to be prepared by the end of the current year.
