Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato accompanied the delegation at the talks.
During the meeting, the sides underlined that there are positive experience of cooperation with the Japanese companies in telecommunication sector. Several large projects on modernization and development of telecommunication network in Uzbekistan were implemented with the participation of the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
It was underlined that during long-term cooperation the Japanese made huge contribution to digitalization of telecommunication network of Uzbekistan and currently participate in the project on developing digital television in Uzbekistan, the press service of the committee said.
Within the talks, the State Committee of Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Interior Affairs and Communication of Japan signed a memorandum of cooperation in the sphere of information-communication technologies, which is directed at strengthening mutual cooperation in this area.
The document envisages cooperation in such areas as development of joint projects, exchange of opinion and experience in ICT sphere, expand business contacts with companies and organizations of two nations, organization of joint seminars and conferences to provide public and private sector to improve knowledge and experience in ICT sector, etc.
