Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Faizullayev discussed with Lamberto Morutzi, diplomatic adviser to the Minister of Universities and Research of Italy, the current state and prospects of cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries.

According to the Dunyo news agency, during the meeting it was emphasized that the number of documents on interaction in this area exceeded 40, including the opening of branches of the Turin Polytechnic and Pisa Universities in Tashkent, as well as a joint faculty of the University of Campania named after Luigi Vanvitelli at the Bukhara State medical institute.

Lamberto Morutzi expressed the ministry’s interest in expanding educational exchanges with Uzbekistan and supported increasing interaction between higher education institutions of both countries.

He also noted that Italy is interested in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the educational field, which corresponds to Italy’s strategic goals in the Central Asian region.

Within the framework of the interdepartmental memorandum of understanding, issues of financing by the Italian side of projects of Uzbek researchers, the exchange of delegations and the organization of a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation of ten rectors of leading Italian universities are discussed.

The possibility of holding an Uzbek-Italian educational forum in Samarkand is also being considered.
