Uzbekistan and Israel agree on cooperation between customs authorities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Chairman of the State Customs Committee Akmalhoja Mavlonov is in Israel on a trip within the framework of the Global Program of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Customs Organization to control container traffic, Dunyo news agency reported.

The Israeli Customs Administration is considered to be a structure within the country’s tax administration and determines the foreign trade policy of this state. It ensures the legitimacy of import and export processes. It is noteworthy that special attention is paid to the prevention of illegal actions. So far, Israel has signed free trade agreements with 13 countries, customs cooperation agreements with 33 countries, including Uzbekistan. Israeli Customs has implemented advanced information systems such as the Global Gateway and the Single Window.

During the visit, a number of presentations were organized for members of the Uzbek delegation to familiarize them with the activities of the country’s customs service.

The events were also attended by the Director of the National Information and Analytical Center for Drug Control under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, Olim Narzullaev and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Israel Feruza Makhmudova.

The presentations presented the process and specifics of the customs system in Israel.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Director General of the Israeli Customs Service Kfir Hen

Today, there is an increase in the volume of bilateral trade. This year, more textiles, fruits and vegetables, as well as pharmaceutical products were exported from Uzbekistan to Israel

As noted during the meetings, further stimulation of foreign trade between the two countries requires consistent interaction between the customs authorities. The current intergovernmental agreement on mutual assistance in customs matters between Uzbekistan and Israel is a document signed 24 years ago. In this regard, there is a need to update the legal framework for cooperation with Israel, based on the requirements of the current period.

At the meeting, the parties agreed to launch an online exchange of information between the customs authorities of Uzbekistan and Israel and establish other forms of interaction.

As a result of the talks, the parties signed an appropriate document.

Chairman of the committee Akmalkhoja Mavlonov invited the head of Israeli customs to visit Uzbekistan.
