Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 October 2024, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held meetings in Tehran with the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref, and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, during his working visit to Iran.
The discussions focused on the current state of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran, including the implementation of existing agreements and joint projects. Both sides also outlined priority areas for future cooperation.
Joint steps were agreed upon to increase mutual trade volumes. Key measures include expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs under the Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and scheduled the 16th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Uzbekistan and Iran, as well as a joint business forum, for the first quarter of 2025.
Following the talks, a bilateral statement was signed, reflecting the agreements reached on further developing Uzbek-Iranian cooperation in trade, economic, investment, and transportation sectors.
