Uzbekistan and International Partners Discuss Spatial Data Digitalization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, bringing together First Deputy Minister Ilhom Norqulov, EU representative Jana Kurpiza, and World Bank Senior Urban Specialist Muhammad Nada.

The discussions also included representatives from the Ministry of Construction, the State Committee on Statistics, the Cadastre Agency, the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of Uzbekistan, and relevant specialists from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The main focus of the meeting was the development of cooperation within the framework of the project on the digitalization and integration of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Uzbekistan. Participants thoroughly reviewed both the current status and strategic outlook of the initiative.

The NSDI is a system that integrates legal, technical, and organizational mechanisms aimed at the effective collection, storage, analysis, and exchange of geographic information.

Implementing such a platform offers broad opportunities for more accurate territorial planning and the rational use of spatial resources across various sectors—from public administration and urban development to environmental management and transport logistics.

During the meeting, special attention was given to analyzing the socio-economic potential of regions, developing sustainable urban and rural development strategies, applying geospatial technologies in planning processes, and strengthening cooperation between government agencies and international partners.

All parties emphasized the importance of engaging international experts and adopting best global practices to help achieve the goals of the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy and to accelerate the development of all regions across the country.

As a result of the talks, a mutual agreement was reached to continue joint efforts and expand the partnership in key areas of digital transformation.
