Uzbekistan and India discuss pharmaceutical quality control

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Alisher Temirov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center, visited the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) as part of a working trip.

The purpose of the visit was to expand cooperation in ensuring the safety and quality of pharmaceutical products and to discuss issues related to the harmonization of national pharmacopoeias.

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, established in 1945, is the primary body responsible for developing quality standards for pharmaceutical products in India. Its main tasks include periodically updating the Indian Pharmacopoeia, developing national standards for medicines and medical products, and ensuring their quality and safety.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the IPC, Dr. Gourav Pratap Singh, and Director Alisher Temirov discussed prospects for collaboration in developing monographs and standard samples, updating quality assurance standards, and ensuring drug control in accordance with international requirements, as well as opportunities for harmonizing these standards between the two countries’ pharmacopoeias.

The delegation also studied the IPC’s activities as the authorized body for pharmacovigilance in India. The organization plays a vital role in ensuring drug safety, monitoring adverse effects, and conducting activities in accordance with international standards.

Both sides reached an agreement to implement joint programs for training qualified personnel and enhancing quality control measures.
