Uzbekistan and IFIs sign loan agreements for US$611.5m in Jan-Mar
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan signed six loan agreements for US$611.47 million with international financial institutions and donors in January-March 2017. Total cost of the projects make up US$845.48 million.

According to Finance Ministry, Uzbekistan signed four loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for US$572.9 million.

Uzbekistan and ADB inked a loan agreement for US$100 million to finance the Small Business Finance Project, which will help expand access to finance for rural and women-owned small businesses. The project cost is US$133.3 million.

Uzbekistan and the ADB signed an agreement for US$198 million to realize project “Reconstruction automobile roads on direction Qarshi-Shakhrisabz-Kitab. The project cost is US$266.2 million.

The bank will also finance Tashkent Province Water Supply Development Project for US$120.9 million, which will improve the lives of over 3 million people. Total cost of the project is US$143.8 million.

The Horticulture Value Chain Development Project will provide US$154 million to upgrade and establish intensive orchards, modern and efficient greenhouses, and processing and storage facilities nationwide, he said. Total cost of the project is US$240.9 million.

In the first quarter of 2017, International Agricultural Development Fund provided a loan for US$23.8 million and a grant worth US$0.7 million to the project “Dairy Value Chains Development Programme (DVCDP)”. The project cost is US$40.57 million.

Uzbekistan and World Bank inked a loan agreement within the project “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin”. The project cost is US$20.57 million, of which US$14 million provided by the World Bank.
