Uzbekistan and ICCROM Sign Memorandum on Cultural Heritage Preservation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Paris between Gayane Umerova, Chair of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, Bakhodir Abdikarimov, Director of the Agency for Cultural Heritage, and Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral, Director-General of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).
The key outcome of the talks was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Cultural Heritage and ICCROM.
The document outlines four priority areas of cooperation: ensuring sustainable management of World Heritage sites, modernizing conservation methods for architectural monuments, advancing the museum sector and scientific literacy, and strengthening regional collaboration in Central Asia, including the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
