Uzbekistan and IAEA discuss nuclear infrastructure development plan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 5 to 8 May, the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna is hosting the second meeting dedicated to discussing the Integrated Work Plan (IWP) for the establishment and development of Uzbekistan’s national nuclear infrastructure, as part of the country’s cooperation with the IAEA.

The event is attended by a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Nuclear Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The delegation also includes representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety.

During the consultations, the sides are conducting a detailed review and coordination of activities spanning 19 key areas of nuclear infrastructure development.

Particular attention is being paid to identifying priority areas for cooperation, clarifying implementation phases, and aligning timelines for upcoming activities supported by the IAEA.

Uzbekistan’s delegation will focus on defining concrete next steps and setting immediate priorities for the implementation of joint projects throughout the session in Vienna.
