Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 October, the first Uzbek-Hungarian interregional forum was held in the city of Qoqand.
The event was attended by Akram Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, István Hubay, President of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County in Hungary, as well as representatives from regional administrations, ministries, and over 100 entrepreneurs from both countries.
During the forum, speakers noted the increasing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary. Over the past five years, the trade turnover between the two countries has doubled.
Major Hungarian companies such as Gedeon Richter, Meditop Pharmaceutical, Inpark, and others are participating in the implementation of joint projects in pharmaceuticals, chemistry, electrical engineering, agriculture, and the banking sector.
Initiatives to expand interregional cooperation were proposed, particularly in pharmaceuticals and agriculture, with a confirmation of readiness for long-term collaboration.
At the conclusion of the forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between Ferghana region, Qoqand, and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. Additionally, a business mission from Ferghana region is planned to visit Hungary in the first half of 2025.
