Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A memorandum signed between the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) and the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development (IAMO) paves the way for enhanced scientific collaboration between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of agricultural research.
The agreement was signed on 27 January in an online format by IAMO Director, Professor Thomas Herzfeld, and CERR Head, Dr. Obid Khakimov, with the participation of Uzbek-German research institutions.
The cooperation aims to foster scientific exchange, support agricultural reforms, and facilitate knowledge sharing. Planned initiatives include seminars, training programs, joint research projects, and the development of policy recommendations for the government.
Dr. Obid Khakimov emphasized that the partnership with IAMO is particularly relevant amid Uzbekistan’s active agricultural reforms and modernization efforts. Professor Thomas Herzfeld, in turn, noted that the collaboration will contribute to developing modern solutions to improve production efficiency and optimize agricultural policies.
Both parties expressed confidence that their joint efforts will promote sustainable agricultural development, food security, and improved living standards.
IAMO is a leading research institute in Germany specializing in the economic transformation of agriculture and agri-food systems. Its work extends to Central Asia, focusing on developing effective strategies for modernizing the agricultural sector.
