Uzbekistan and Germany Deepen Partnership in Sustainable Energy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 June 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Akram Aliyev, Urs Engels, Head of Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, and Elena Metzger, Project Director for Central Asia at the German Energy Agency (dena).
During the talks, the parties discussed key priorities for strengthening Uzbek-German cooperation in the energy sector. Special attention was given to the implementation of joint projects aimed at improving energy efficiency, developing renewable energy sources, and advancing the “Climate-Neutral Cities” initiative.
A separate topic of discussion was the newly established German-Uzbek Training Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, officially opened on 25 June in Tashkent. The center marks the first practical step in training local professionals in sustainable energy, with active participation from the German side.
The Uzbek delegation expressed appreciation for the comprehensive support provided by German partners and emphasized the importance of collaboration in the green transformation of the economy. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding strategic cooperation and implementing new initiatives in the energy sector.
