Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan and the Russian company Gazprom signed a Strategic Memorandum of Cooperation in the energy complex.

The document was signed within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum - 2023. During the forum, Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Gazprom Alexey Miller and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov held negotiations.

The parties discussed the progress and prospects of interaction. In particular, the parties discussed issues of Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan, which began in October of this year.

The parties noted that a specially designated route based on the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline system is of great importance for a stable energy supply to consumers in Uzbekistan, which is especially important in the autumn-winter period.

Following the meeting, Alexey Miller and Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a Strategic Memorandum on cooperation in the energy complex.

In accordance with the document, the parties intend to develop cooperation in the field of gas supply and transportation, as well as in the field of geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
