Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 March, a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Gambia was signed in New York, Dunyo news agency reports.

The document was signed on behalf of the governments of both countries by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Ulugbek Lapasov and the Permanent Representative of the Gambia to the UN Lamine Dibba.

Both sides expressed a strong desire to strengthen cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.

An agreement was reached on more active interaction in the search for mutually beneficial areas for bilateral cooperation.

Gambia became the 148th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.
