Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting with a delegation from China’s Wanlin Group to discuss the joint project, the "Uzbekistan-Qingdao Agricultural, Scientific, Technological, and Industrial Park."
Key aspects of the project, expected outcomes, and mutual commitments for its implementation were reviewed during the discussions.
Wanlin Group representatives emphasized that the park will focus on two primary areas: the production, processing, and sale of agricultural crops, and the provision of technical services in agriculture along with the development of related industries.
The company also expressed its intention to establish a major enterprise for processing vegetables grown in Uzbekistan, with a goal to export 90% of the finished products to European markets.
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture highlighted the favorable conditions created for foreign investors and noted the significant potential for processing high-value vegetable crops such as onions, garlic, and carrots. Detailed data on regions suitable for growing these crops were presented, outlining promising opportunities for the project.
Both parties exchanged views on the demand for processed food products in international markets and discussed key aspects of agricultural product processing and logistics for export. Particular attention was given to state support aimed at offsetting transportation costs, especially given Uzbekistan’s lack of access to the sea.
The meeting concluded with a decision to jointly prepare a comprehensive set of documents to expedite the project’s launch.
