Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekistan Railways," Kh. Rakhmetov, concluded a visit to the People’s Republic of China, where key issues regarding railway transport cooperation were discussed. The visit, held on 14–15 December, marked significant progress in developing multimodal transportation between Uzbekistan and China.
During meetings with Guo Jian, head of the China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group, and Wang Guochao, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Lianyungang Port Group Co. Ltd., discussions focused on increasing cargo turnover and optimizing multimodal transport. Particular emphasis was placed on organizing container block trains and resolving delays and idle time for wagons and containers at Chinese border points. Both sides agreed on systematic collaboration to expedite transit transportation.
A major milestone of the visit was the inauguration of the first representative office of JSC "Temiryulkargo" in China. This development significantly enhances the company’s international presence and opens new opportunities for expanding multimodal transport. Additionally, agreements were reached with the China Railway Urumqi Bureau to further develop transit corridors.
While progress was made, the persistent issue of wagon and container delays at Chinese border points was also addressed. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to resolving these problems and outlined plans to overcome emerging challenges.
Overall, Kh. Rakhmetov’s visit underscored the strategic importance of railway transport cooperation between Uzbekistan and China and paved the way for unlocking the transit potential of both nations.
