Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 July 2024, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov met with members of the Chinese delegation led by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

During the dialogue, it was emphasized that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and China have strengthened and intensified in all areas of bilateral relations. Special attention was given to the high level of strategic partnership achieved through the strong political will of the leaders of both countries – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of China Xi Jinping, as well as regular high-level meetings.

Priority tasks outlined in the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy were reviewed, along with large-scale reforms, including constitutional changes and the activities of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan.

Zhao Leji highly praised the comprehensive and consistent reforms in Uzbekistan, which have positively impacted all aspects of the country’s life.

The sides also discussed the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, enriching it with new content, and exchanging experience in legislative activities. Both sides expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation in trade, economic, investment, tourism, education, transport, communication, and energy sectors, as well as collaborate on poverty reduction and other priority areas.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, and the parties agreed to further strengthen and develop inter-parliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and China.
