Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting focusing on climate change and green economy development took place at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, as well as at the Uzbek Embassy in Sweden and with Capturiant.
The event featured representatives from the Uzbek Embassy in Sweden, Capturiant Managing Director Thomas Fuglesang, and staff from the Ministry of Economy and Finance's Green Economy Transition and International Relations departments.
Key topics included climate change mitigation and adaptation, along with the prospects for further developing the green economy in Uzbekistan.
Participants explored opportunities for enhancing international carbon emissions trading in the context of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the implementation of a national emissions trading system and carbon tax, and preparations for the European Union's Cross-Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), including its potential impact on the country’s exports.
Additionally, discussions addressed cooperation in integrating carbon markets with capital markets, expanding sources and mechanisms for financing climate projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop further collaboration in the specified areas.
