Uzbekistan and Bureau Veritas discuss green economy development and environmental certification
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 February, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, Umid Abidhadjaev, held talks with Sofien Masmoudi, Vice President of the Regional Office of the French company Bureau Veritas for the Middle East, Africa, and Caspian region.
The meeting focused on developing the green economy and strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental certification.
During the discussions, the parties explored prospects for promoting sustainable development principles, including encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt environmentally friendly technologies.
Special attention was given to the formation of a carbon credit market, the introduction of a validation and certification system, and the potential application of Bureau Veritas’ international expertise to advance this sector in Uzbekistan.
The sides emphasized the importance of informing entrepreneurs about modern standards, cutting-edge technologies for reducing carbon footprints, and certification processes. The necessity of integrating environmentally sustainable solutions into the national economy and increasing corporate responsibility for environmental impact was also highlighted.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand the partnership and establish long-term cooperation in implementing environmental initiatives.
