Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Submit Joint Bid to Host U-20 World Cup in 2027
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have officially submitted a joint bid to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2027. FIFA has already begun reviewing candidate proposals.
The joint statement emphasizes that the reforms actively pursued in recent years by Turkic-speaking nations have significantly impacted the development of football infrastructure and enhanced their international standing. The football associations of both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan expressed confidence in their ability to organize the tournament at the highest level.
Uzbekistan is fully prepared to host such a prestigious global competition. The country has modernized its stadiums to meet international standards and accumulated valuable experience in staging major tournaments. These include the AFC U-20 and U-23 Championships, as well as the region’s first-ever FIFA Futsal World Cup.
It is worth noting that the latter tournament was highly praised by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who described it as “the best World Cup in history.”
