Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Discuss Prospects for Defense Partnership and Experience Exchange
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Minister of Defense and Commander of the Air Force of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Uzbekistan at the invitation of Major General Ahmad Burkhanov, Commander of the Air Defense and Air Forces of Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation laid flowers at the monument to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani People in the Heydar Aliyev Park Square in Tashkent, paying tribute to his memory.
As part of the program, Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade held meetings with Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, and Major General Ahmad Burkhanov, Commander of the Air Defense and Air Forces.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation in the defense sector. Special attention was given to cooperation in military aviation and air defense systems, as well as the importance of experience exchange and regular visits to strengthen professional ties. The talks also included a detailed exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
The Azerbaijani delegation visited the Chirchik airfield and one of the military units, familiarizing themselves with the infrastructure, service conditions, and ongoing activities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the sides discussed specific areas of cooperation, exchanged views on current topics, and addressed questions of interest.
