Uzbekistan and Austria are expanding the boundaries of trade and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The eighth meeting of the Uzbek-Austrian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and business forum was held in Vienna.

The events were attended by Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov, Director General of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economics of Austria Florian Frauscher, Vice-President of the Austrian Economic Chamber Philipp Gadi, heads of relevant ministries and departments, as well as more than 100 representatives of the business community of both states

At the meeting, issues of developing bilateral trade, economic and investment interaction, as well as industrial cooperation were discussed.

The Austrian side noted the high interest of Austrian companies in the Uzbekistan market, due to reforms and a favorable investment climate in the country.

During the business forum, successful stories of joint projects in various industries were presented, and agreements were reached on attracting investments in specific projects.

Following the meeting, a final protocol was signed. In the document, the parties noted that Uzbekistan and Austria would soon sign a protocol on the avoidance of double taxation, an Air Services Agreement, the opening of a foreign trade representative office of Austria in Uzbekistan and improving the information base on mutual trade.

Issues of developing cooperation in the areas of attracting investments, tourism, green technologies, alternative energy, mining, infrastructure, medical equipment and other areas were also discussed.

A “Road Map” for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation has been formed, including a system monitoring mechanism.

During the visit, bilateral negotiations were also held with the heads of large Austrian companies. A constructive exchange of views contributed to the achievement of agreements on the implementation of joint projects in the fields of healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the development of livestock farming, and the production of fire-resistant glass and insulating materials.
