Uzbekistan and AIIB focus on implementing infrastructure projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Washington, as part of the annual spring meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, negotiations took place between Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, and Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
During the meeting, particular attention was given to the development of cooperation in implementing key infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan.
Priority areas identified included the modernization of water supply and wastewater management systems, the development of road infrastructure, the improvement of the energy sector, and the renovation of educational institutions.
Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intention to strengthen the partnership to enhance the country’s infrastructure capacity, stimulate long-term economic growth, and ensure regional stability.
