Uzbekistan and Afghanistan sign 35 agreements worth US$2.5 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have signed 35 memorandums of understanding and agreements totaling US$2.5 billion, according to a statement from the office of the Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs.

The signing ceremony was led by Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, with the participation of government officials and representatives from the private sectors of both countries.

Of the signed documents, 12 memorandums are related to investment agreements totaling US$1.4 billion, while 23 pertain to trade agreements worth US$1.1 billion.

The implementation of these agreements is expected to significantly strengthen economic and trade ties between the two countries.

It was previously reported that a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, is visiting Afghanistan to participate in a business forum and the opening of the "Made in Uzbekistan" exhibition in Kabul.
