Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discuss prospective areas of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 August, a Uzbek-Afghan business forum took place in Kabul as part of a visit by a delegation from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, participated in the Uzbek-Afghan business forum. The event also included representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, industry associations, and over 500 business leaders from both countries.

During the forum, discussions focused on prospective areas of cooperation, such as expanding the range of traded goods, strengthening ties between producers and exporters, enhancing business relations, and increasing the number of joint business events and visits.

The forum also featured the "Made in Uzbekistan" exhibition, aimed at boosting mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to $1 billion. The exhibition showcased products from 80 major Uzbek companies across various industries, including automotive, textiles, jewelry, food, electrical engineering, mining, and pharmaceuticals.

The exhibition included B2B and G2B meetings, allowing entrepreneurs to establish new business connections and discuss practical aspects of joint projects and trade agreements.

During the visit, Laziz Kudratov met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Nooruddin Azizi. The two sides reviewed the current state and potential directions for developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Additionally, they agreed on practical steps for implementing joint investment projects in trade, investment, transportation, and construction materials production.
