Uzbekistan and ADB discussed cooperation issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov received a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Vice President Wenzai Zhang.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan, during the meeting the participants got acquainted with the ongoing reforms and the results achieved to date in various spheres of life.

The main goal of these reforms is to create an environment that will attract competitive and global investors, which will improve the overall economic situation of the state. At the same time, it was stressed that everyone has the right to receive a worthy reward for their work.

As it was noted, on 26 June ADB allocated a loan of US$300 million for macroeconomic development and the program of economic reforms in the country with the aim of ensuring economic stability.

At the same time, it was noted that financial and technical support will be provided for investment projects in the amount of US$1 billion for three years in order to implement the economic reforms of the government. Representatives of ADB announced the implementation of a new strategy for cooperation by the Board of Directors of the bank in the first quarter of 2019.

The goal of the partnership with ADB is primarily to improve the economic situation in Central Asia, reduce poverty, develop rural areas and make these countries a stable place for trade and production.

ADB seeks to actively participate in Uzbekenergo state enterprises in the development of power distribution systems, including the modernization of financial and economic management, modern equipment and job creation.

In addition, the bank can lead to implementation of measures to improve agricultural systems. In particular, rural power supply includes intellectual equipment (artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence), modern equipment, improved water supply and sanitation services.

Another proposal of ADB was the issue of providing technical and professional assistance and exchange of skills. The parties noted the willingness of both sides to work together in this area, to send experts to the field and provide a joint grant to the Central Bank in the implementation of macroeconomic reforms.

It should be noted that every step forward for economic and financial reforms and every decision taken requires great responsibility, and all this is done only for the sake of a stable future of citizens and the prosperity of our Motherland.

"We are very pleased with the 25-year cooperation with Uzbekistan and will continue to work to further develop and maintain these relationships in the future," Wenzai Zhang, ADB Vice President, said.

Officials of the Asian Development Bank said that they are ready to provide Uzbekistan with all the necessary social, economic and technical assistance for the implementation of the above-mentioned reforms.

After the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue in this format and ensure the provision of all necessary support.
