Uzbekistan allows issuing consumer loans for imported goods

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed amendments to the law on consumer credit, which provide for the issuance of consumer loans for imported goods.

The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis adopted this document on 17 January and the Senate on 2 March. The law comes into force on 11 April.

The Law amends Section 15 of the Consumer Credit Law. The changes envisages the possibility of providing financial consumer loans for goods (services) sold by individuals and legal entities, as well as goods (services) produced outside of Uzbekistan.

It is provided that when using a financial consumer loan, the contract may be concluded before or after the entry into force of the contract for the purchase of goods (services) by the consumer.

A financial consumer loan is provided by a bank or other credit organization by transferring funds to the settlement account of a manufacturer or seller of consumer goods (services).

At the same time, the law prohibits the issuance of a consumer loan in cash.
