Economy 28/06/2007 Uzbekistan Airways to buy six А-320-200 aircrafts

Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbek national air carrier, and Airbus, European aircraft producer, signed firm agreement on purchase of six А-320-200 mid-range aircrafts.

Uzbek company will receive four 150 seat А-320-200 in 2011 and other two in the first quarter of 2012.

Dmitriy Davydov, deputy director-general of Uzbekistan Airways, said the aircrafts will be purchased on financial leasing, bur he added no financial conditions and engine suppliers were determined.

The sides did not disclose sum of deal, but catalogue price of А-320 is US$80 million.

Currently, the Uzbek company uses 16 western made aircrafts, including Boeing-767-300, Boeing-757-200, A-310 and RJ-85. Uzbekistan Airways has similar number of Soviet-made aircrafts, which will be sold soon.

In May, Uzbekistan Airways signed agreement on purchase of two Boeing-787 Dreamliners, which will be supplied in 2014.

Davydov said the company will receive six 64 seat Il-114-100 of Tashkent Aircraft Production Plant named after Chkalov in 2007-2009. Aircrafts will be equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines.
