Uzbekistan Airports creates an airport personnel training center

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan Airports, as part of a return visit to Korea, held a number of meetings with representatives of the Korea Airports Corporation (KAS) and visited several aviation industry facilities.

Acting Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports Javlonbek Umarkhojaev and President of KAS Yoon Hyung-Joong signed a memorandum of understanding, which includes several areas of cooperation.

The main vector was a joint project to create an Aviation Training Center for airport employees in Uzbekistan. The center will be created on the basis of KAS’s innovative experience with the support of a grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which will finance the construction and equip it with modern equipment.

The document also covers cooperation in the exchange of information and experience in the field of airport management, exchange of experts for projects and business initiatives, development of joint programs and projects in the aviation industry, and professional development of personnel for effective airport management.

“A key component of cooperation with KAS is the establishment of an Aviation Training Center at Uzbekistan Airports, supported by a KOICA grant. Today, more than 8 thousand people work at airports in Uzbekistan, and advanced training of workers is an integral part of airport activities. The establishment of such a center is necessary to continuously improve technological capabilities and operational standards in accordance with global best practices. In addition, Uzbekistan Airports plans to closely cooperate with KAS in terms of introducing advanced methodologies and practices in aviation training,” said the head of Uzbekistan Airports, Javlonbek Umarkhojaev.

During the trip, the delegation visited KAS Aviation Training Centers in the cities of Seoul and Cheongju, where they became familiar with advanced methods of personnel training. In addition, representatives of Uzbekistan Airports got acquainted with the work of Gimpo International Airport (Seoul) and visited the aviation academy of Incheon International Airport. A meeting was also held with JEJU Air to discuss potential cooperation.
