Uzbekistan agriculture output comprises 12.642trln soums in 2009
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Agriculture output of Uzbekistan made up 12.642 trillion soums in January-December 2009, or grew by 5.7% year-on-year. About 7.224 trillion soums fell to share of plant growing products (up 5.9% year-on-year) and 5.418 trillion soums to cattle breeding (up 5.5% year-on-year).

Share of non-government sector in total agriculture production of Uzbekistan made up 99.9% in the reporting period, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said. At the same time, share of dehkan farms in agriculture output comprised 63.3% in 2009 (65.3% in 2008), farm entities – 34.5% (32.5%) and agriculture enterprises – 2.2% (2.2%).

Plant growing

In January-December 2009, share of plant growing made up 57.1% in total volume of agriculture production (53.5% in 2008).

Total sown area of agriculture crops in the reporting period in all types of farms made up 3.608 million hectares in 2009.

Areas, allocated to grain products, made up 1.61 million hectares or up 3.3% year-on-year, including 1.354 million hectares were issued to wheat.

Cotton was sown on 1.347 million hectares (down 5.5%). The sown areas under potato increased by 4.9%, vegetable by 1.9%, melon plantation by 4.3% and forage crops by 8.7%.

All type of entities threshed 7.391 million tonnes of grain, including 6.916 million tonnes of kernel crops, of which 6.637 million tonnes were wheat.

In 2009, the Government of Uzbekistan purchased kernel products for 2.596 million tonnes, of which 2.517 million tonnes were wheat. The government also purchased 3.401 million tonnes of raw cotton, which is fully meets 2008 result.

The country collected 1.524 million tonnes of potato (up 9% year-on-year), vegetables – 5.704 million tonnes (up 9.3% year-on-year), melon productions – 1.071 million tonnes (up 9.2% year-on-year), fruit and berry – 1.542 million tonnes (up 10%) and grape – 899,600 tonnes (up 13.7% year-on-year).

Cattle breeding

In total volume of agriculture output, share of cattle breeding made up 42.9% in 2009 against 46.5% in 2008.

Number of large cattle grew by 486,000 heads (6.1%) to 8.51 million. The growth of cows made up 208,600 heads (6.3%), sheep and goats - 878,900 heads (6.5%), poultry by 3.527 million heads (12%).

Number of large cattle, including cows, sheep and goats, as well as poultry, increased in all regions of Uzbekistan, the statistic body said.

Share of large cattle in dehkan farms in total number made up 93.1%, farm entities – 5.8%, cows – 94.4% and 4.8%, sheep and goat – 78.1% and 7.6% and poultry 64.3% and 10.5% respectively.

All category of entities produced 1.367 million tonnes of meat in live weight (up 6.2% year-on-year), 5.779 million tonnes of milk (6.5%), 2.715 million eggs (11.8%), 25,000 tonnes of wool (5.1%), 897,900 astrakhans (0.1%) and 24,00 tonnes of cocoons (2.2%).

Share of dehkan farms in total volume of meat production made up 95.1%, milk – 96.4%, eggs – 60%, wool – 82.7% and astrakhan – 65.1% in the reporting period.

Private farms

Private farms of Uzbekistan produced goods for 4.336 trillion soums, which is up by 7.8% year-on-year. Share of farm entities in total agriculture output comprised 34.5%.

Total volume of land, allocated to farm entities, made up 5.828 million hectares, the statistics committee said.

As of 1 January 2010, private farms bred 496,600 heads of cattle, including 168,600 heads of cows, 1.097 million heads of sheep and goats, and 3.475 million heads of poultry.

Number of cattle grew by 15,900 heads (up 3.3%), cows by 6,200 heads (up 3.8%), sheep and goats by 90,400 heads (up 9%) and poultry – 936,900 heads (up 36.9%).

Farm entities produced 81.4% of total collected grain (79.2% in 2008), raw cotton – 99.2% (99.1%), potato – 18.1% (16.2%), vegetable – 35% (32.9%), melon products – 50.1% (47.1%), fruit and berry – 47.7% (46.3%) and grape – 55.2% (51.5%).

Silkworm breeding

Uzbekistan produced 23,972.6 tonnes of silkworm cocoons in 2009, which is up 2.2% year-on-year.

The country produced 0.9 tonnes of high quality cocoons, 14,400 tonnes of elite grade cocoons, 176.1 tonnes of seed cocoons, 9,402.6 tonnes of first grade cocoons, 6,654.2 tonnes of the second grade of cocoons, 822 tonnes of nonstandard cocoons and 1,603.6 tonnes of karapachak.
