Uzbekistan Agriculture Digitalization Project Receives International Recognition

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Geographic Information System of the Ministry of Agriculture was awarded for achievements in the field of geographic information systems (GIS) at the ESRI User Conference, a major international conference for users of ESRI programs in 2023, organized by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) in San Diego, USA.

The achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture in the process of digitalization of the agricultural sector ensure the development of the industry in accordance with international standards. In this regard, the work carried out by the ministry and its structural unit, the Center for Digitalization of Agro-Industry, deserves special attention. In particular, a geoportal has been placed in open access on the basis of the system, which accumulates spatial information on more than 3.2 million hectares of irrigated agricultural land, more than 700 thousand land users, land boundaries, 1 million contours, and which displays more than 10 data on agricultural crops and soil characteristics.

The geoportal allows to monitor the soil and crops using a modern method. It also contains systemic information on issues such as crop vegetation, soil and plant moisture, nitrogen content in plants based on the analysis of satellite images using 4 multispectral indices and much more. At the same time, within the framework of integration, information from ministries, departments and structural organizations is constantly reflected and updated. The fact that the effective digitalization of agriculture in Uzbekistan has received recognition not only among domestic producers and experts, but also at the international level, indicates that work in this direction is carried out on the basis of advanced international standards.

The company "Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI)" was founded in 1969 and is a leader in the global market for geographic information systems, software for geolocation and cartography. The company has 49 offices, 11 research centers and over 300,000 users worldwide.
