Uzbekistan adopts rules of taking care of domestic animals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Rules of taking care of dogs and cats at settlements have been adopted in Uzbekistan and they are mandatory for all pet owners, including legal entities.

In line with new rules, dogs will be registered and re-registered annually at vaccination at settlements. Citizens’ self governing bodies will provide information to veterinary bodies about persons, taking care of dogs, for their timely vaccination against rabies. The vaccination will be carried out from the age of three month for dogs of any species.

State veterinary bodies, registering dogs, will have to issue registration certificate and registration sign or microchip at vaccination. The expenses will be covered by pet owners.

Mandatory term of taking care of pets is to adhere sanitary-hygienic and veterinary-sanitary rules. Now, persons, living at many-storeyed houses, can take care after one dog and one cat with agreement with neighbours and union of private habitation owners. It is allowed to take care after dog on a leash or in isolated area at individual houses.

Dog owners will have to prevent barking of dogs before 8:00 in the morning and after 22:00 in the evening.

The rules ban to take care of pets in general use places: entryways, garrets, basements, kitchen, balcony, etc. It is also banned to keep dogs at educational and medical establishments.

It is also banned to take dogs and cats to catering enterprises, trade and production halls of food and other shops, wash pets at public places – beaches, ponds, fountains, etc.

The rules ban to walk dogs in drunken condition and children under the age of 14, and take dogs to public places and public transport, except some cases.

It is banned to injure and leave animals in helpless conditions, hurt or carry out other intolerable actions against dogs and cats. It is banned to take care of dogs and cats at kindergartens without permission of sanitary bodies.

Owners can walk dogs at vacant lands or special areas, and ensure cleanness of the area. Owners should ensure that dogs do not attack human or other pets. Owners should take dogs to walk with lead and token with name of dog, owners address and telephone. At walking, dogs should be in muzzles and their lead should be with the length of up to 2 meters at open places and 1 meter at public places. Owners can walk dogs without muzzles in special places.

Owners of pets should carry out necessary measures on ensuring security of people and pets around, preventing regular barking of dogs, polluting public places and cleaning excrements of pets at public places.

Dogs and cats, walking at streets on public places without attendants, even with collars, tokens and muzzles, will be caught and placed at special places. Owners can take their animals within five days after they confirm their ownership and pay expenses. After five days, pedigree animals, which have no diseases, can be sold to any other interested person after they pay expenses for taking care.

Real estate owners should not allow neglected animals in their territories and should not feed them. In case of appearance of such dogs, they should inform Animal Control Divisions.
