Uzbek leader approved a programme on modernization of material-technical base of universities and improvement of quality of specialists training for 2011-2016.

In line with the programme, Uzbekistan will realize measures on optimization of directions and specialty on preparation of high-skilled specialists, further improvement of state education standards, construction, reconstruction, repair and equipment of educational and laboratory buildings, sport halls, etc.

The resolution said that some higher education establishments will change their specialty. In particular, Andijan Engineering-Economic Institute will be reorganized into Andijan Machinery Institute.

Namangan engineering-economic institute will be reorganized into Namangan Engineering-Technical Institute, while Bukhara Technology Institute of Food and Light industry – to Bukhara High Technology Engineering-Technical Institute.

In line with the resolution, Fund for Development of material-technical base of higher education establishments will be created under the Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan will also adopt measures on further improvement of payment system of teachers of the higher educational establishments.
