The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan registered a resolution of the Central Bank and the State Tax Committee “On introduction of changes into the regulation on order of equipping and using POS-terminals in conducting money operations with the population.”
The regulation was approved in July 2009 and the new document expanded the list of the documents, which should be equipped with POS-terminals in mandatory order.
In line with new resolution, all stationary trade points, including drug stores, should be equipped with POS-terminals independently from their area size. Earlier, the trade points with area of over 150 square meters should have POS-terminals.
According to the regulation, POS-terminals should be installed at the air and railway ticket sales points, points for accepting payments for communal and communication services, hotels and petroleum filling stations, catering objects of organizations, employees of which receive salaries with banking payment cards, and points for accepting taxes and other mandatory payments, etc.
In line with the changes, the list was enlarged with bus stations, credit organizations, insurance companies and other financial market participants, all catering objects, parking, points for rendering personnel and cultural-entertainment services.
The regulation said other business entities, who carry out transactions with population, should also install POS-terminals.
The updated regulation has reservations that business entities, which have right not to use cash machines in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan, cannot use POS-terminals.
