Uzbekistan adopts measures to deepen localization of ready goods production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan adopted measures on further measures on deepening of localization of production of ready goods, components and materials based on industrial cooperation.

President of Uzbekistan signed on 1 December 2009 a resolution “On additional measures on deepening localization of production of ready goods, components and materials based on industrial cooperation”.

The document was adopted for further deepening market principles and mechanisms in import-export operations, improving role of exchange and fair traded in developing cooperation relations among business entities, as well as strengthening coordination of measures on formation of ready goods, components and spare parts localization projects based on local raw materials and industrial cooperation.

The document set order, in line with which the Ministry for Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) will develop proposals on deepening localization of production of concrete ready products, components and materials based on analysis of imported products and agreements signed at the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange and submits them to the Ministry of Economy.

The Ministry of Economy, based on the proposals of MFERIT, places orders on establishing production of new localized products (services) at the local enterprises and forms Programme of localization and monitors its implementation.

Special inter-departmental commission on implementation of the Programme of localization of ready products, components and materials based on industrial cooperation will coordinate work on formation and realization of the Programme.

The document re-organized Executive Body of the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange at the UzExpoCenter to Directorate of International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange under the MFERIT.

The document set new tasks of the Directorate along with previously set ones. Among them are:

  • Organizing wide advertisement through foreign information resources about annually held International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange and enterprises of Uzbekistan participating at the events and their products;
  • Conducting systematic work on attracting potential foreign entities to International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange;
  • Carrying out measures on strengthening market principles and mechanism in export of local goods and services through expanding export-import deals with foreign partners and exchanges and fairs and step-by-step decreasing bilateral inter-governmental agreements on export of products, etc.
The MFERIT was entrusted to reconstruct two pavilions of UzExpCenter by 1 September 2010 and expanding the size of exhibition halls to 14,500 square meters.
