Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Within the framework of the Annual Meetings of the Governing Council of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, a delegation of Uzbekistan met with Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen, the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade reported.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing a strategic partnership with Uzbekistan, covering such priority areas as health, education, water and irrigation management, the agricultural sector, the construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation, energy and the financial sector.

The bank management noted the significant progress achieved in the implementation of affordable housing programs, improving the quality of housing and communal services, construction and electrification of railways and highways and welcomed the transition to systemic cooperation through the adoption of the Partnership Strategy and the Country Business Plan for 2019 -2021

Particular attention was paid during the dialogue to the events of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), held this year under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan, and the prospects for participating in the CAREC Ministerial Conference in November this year, ADB President T. Nakao.

Following the meeting, the parties identified promising areas for further expansion of cooperation and agreed to make joint efforts to ensure the effectiveness of the partnership.
